The Traffic Division, established in accordance with 4 V.I. Code Ann. § 79 is an integral division of the Clerk’s Office. The division is responsible for the proper disposition of all traffic offenses, the preparation of the appropriate records and reports relating to these traffic tickets in such a manner and at such times as directed by the Court. The Clerk of the Superior Court is the repository for all uniform traffic tickets issued to law enforcement officers and others. Virgin Islands Superior Court Rules 151 -160 apply to cases in the Traffic Division.

PARKING TICKETS
Pursuant to 20 V.I. Code Ann. § 497(h), every traffic ticket issued for improper parking or parking in a handicap space shall constitute a lien on the title of the motor vehicle upon which said traffic ticket was placed. The lien shall remain in existence until the traffic ticket is either paid or discharged according to law. No motor vehicle shall be registered and licensed, nor shall the Director of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles register a change of ownership until all liens created pursuant to 20 V.I. Code Ann. § 497 have been discharged.

Tickets filed after Jan 1, 2020 are eligible at this time to be paid online.  Tickets will not be eligible to be paid on  the day of your court hearing.

IN PERSON
Traffic tickets may be paid by certified check, cashier’s checks, personal checks,  or money orders. Please note that checks submitted in excess of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) must be certified.

Paying Traffic Tickets Prior to Court Appearance
Traffic tickets can be paid before the court date at the Office of the Cashier located at the Superior Court. By paying a traffic ticket prior to appearing in court, you are admitting that the violation occurred. Therefore, there will no longer be a need for a hearing before a Judge.

Each person found delinquent in the payment of a traffic and lien shall also pay a delinquency fee of Seventy-five Dollars ($75.00), pursuant to 4 V.I. Code Ann. § 521(a).
